The short answer

Yes, you can see a dentist without dental insurance. At Farah Dentistry in Titusville, patients without coverage can ask about our in-office membership plan and its discounted rates, pay as they go by cash, check or major credit card, or apply for financing through CareCredit or Cherry. Many people combine these options.

Option 1: an in-office membership plan

An in-office membership plan is an arrangement directly between you and a dental practice. It isn’t insurance, so there’s no insurance company in the middle. In general, plans like these exchange a membership fee for reduced rates at that practice, which suits people who plan to keep up with regular care.

Details vary from one practice to another, so it’s worth asking any practice exactly what its plan includes, what it costs and how long it runs. For Farah Dentistry’s plan, call (321) 269-3802 and our front desk will explain how it works.

Option 2: paying as you go

You can also simply pay for each visit. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Before treatment begins, ask for an estimate so you know what to expect. We’d rather you understood your costs up front than be surprised afterward.

Option 3: financing larger treatment

For larger treatment, such as a crown or dental implants, outside financing can spread the cost over time. We work with CareCredit and Cherry. Both are third-party companies with their own applications, approval decisions and terms, so read the repayment details carefully before you commit.

How to keep your dental costs down

  • Keep up with checkups and cleanings. Small problems are usually simpler to fix than big ones.
  • Treat a cavity while it’s small. Decay doesn’t heal on its own, and a cavity left alone can grow until it needs an inlay, a crown or root canal treatment.
  • Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth daily and limit sugary snacks between meals.
  • Don’t wait on a toothache. Pain, swelling or a broken tooth tends to become harder to treat with time.
  • Ask what’s urgent and what can wait, so you can plan treatment in stages if you need to.

What if I have a dental emergency and no insurance?

Please call us anyway. We hold time in the schedule every day for emergencies and can usually see you the same day during office hours, Monday to Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm. Being uninsured doesn’t change that. If you have facial swelling with a fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing, call 911 or go to the emergency room.

What if I have insurance after all?

We’re in-network with Delta Dental PPO, DHA (Dental Health Alliance) Plans, Cigna Dental Plans and GEHA, and we accept and file all PPO plans on your behalf. If you’re not sure what your coverage includes, call us and we’ll help you check before your visit.
